Somewhere during moving house and moving towns and dealing with an unexpected renovation, I decided it would be a good idea to make an experimental horror short. Turns out, it was an excellent idea. Small team, big result, and an awesome housewarming.

Empty - "Toni wakes in the woods, alone, unsure how she got there. She walks home to find her house empty. She waits. Outside, haunting noises and an ominous red light. Then inside — voices. Blood. Fear. And a terrible feeling that this is her own personal hell."

It looked like a body, the blurred shape that collided with the front of the ship. I knew it couldn’t be, of course. A human body out there in that shimmering pool of stars, floating in front of the first vessel that had ever made it to this far-flung sector? The idea was absurd.

I often think that really recognisable actors are a risk when playing characters based on real people. It can be difficult to separate the character from an actor you know so well, unless they've drastically altered their appearance.⁠

When I first heard Amanda Seyfried would be playing Elizabeth Holmes, I thought she sounded like a great choice. But after watching the first 4 episodes, I want to upgrade that to phenomenal. Amanda just IS Elizabeth, to the point where I'm starting to think of her as the real Elizabeth. Her voice, mannerisms, the internal conflict.... I haven't seen a biopic performance this good in ages.⁠

I also massively rate the entire production, from the writing to the casting. My only criticism is I hate waiting for the next episode.⁠
